Goal tracking allows users to visualize milestones and benchmarks for each contact tracked and to see areas where progress is being made and those where critical steps are missing. Goals can also be used to design guided workflows for data entry, so users know exactly which data needs to be collected in order to meet a specific milestone or goal.

If you do not yet have the Goals feature turned on for your programs talk to your Customer Success Manager about using them!

How Do I Set This Up in VerticalChange?

Goals are created on the Program level and then appear on a Person or Group Contact's Dashboard once they are enrolled in that program. They help guide staff through the workflow of filling out forms for that Program.

There are two types of Goals: Basic Goals and Goals with Guided Forms. We will talk mostly about Basic Goals in this article, but for more details about the Guided Forms option ask your Customer Success Manager!

First let's find the Program we want to make Goals for through the Navigation Bar. You will see a message saying "There are no goals defined for this program." Once we have created Goals they will appear in that space. Click on the Goals tab on the Program's Dashboard and let's make goals!

Once in the Goals tab for your Program, select the green Add a Goal button. This will take us to a list of options for our Goal, which include:

  1. Goal Name: This will appear on the Client's Dashboard

  2. Description: This will only appear on the Contact Dashboard if you are using Guided Forms.

  3. Required: This makes the Goal required and it will turn red when it is overdue so staff know they need to complete it.

  4. Target Date: This allows you to choose a deadline for when the Goal should be completed. It can be a Fixed date or a Relative date connected to when the client is first enrolled in the Program.

  5. Recurring: This will allow you to make the Goal recurring every "x" number of days you choose.

  6. Enrollment Types: You can choose which enrollment types the goals will show for.

  7. Scope to Role: This allows you to limit which User Types can see the Goals. Goals are automatically available for all Users until you select Roles here.

  8. Scope to Person or Group: This allows you to choose if you want this Goal to show on the dashboard for People Contacts and/or Group Contacts.

  9. Included Forms: This is the most important part! You can click on the list of forms to select which forms you want to include in your Goal! It can be as many forms as you want and you can adjust their order by dragging and dropping them into place. If you are using multiple forms for each goal you may want to consider using the Guided Forms Feature, which was made for this purpose.

Save your Goal and you are ready to start using them!

If you need to edit a goal, return to the Goals tab on the Program's Dashboard, and click on the goal you want to edit. Make changes to the goal, and at the bottom you can click Save.

If you need to remove a goal, click the Delete button.
