Register Students for a Session

How to register your contacts for active sessions

In order to register your students for a session, you'll first want to make sure you have an active session created on a group contact.

Search for the student that you would like to register by typing their name into the Jump to contact bar. 

Once on their profile, click on the Registrations tab, then click on the Register for an active session dropdown. 

This will give you a list of all sessions that are created under the same program that the student is enrolled in, and that is currently active or upcoming (no past sessions!)

Click on a session name to open up the registration form.

Fill out all of the information in the registration form. The Start Date, End Date, Start Time, End Time and Meeting Days will auto-populate with the details from the session. You can change these for the individual, as long as they don't fall outside of the range of the session. 

Complete all fields, then press Save.

You will now see that the student has been registered for this session in their Registrations list. 

Editing the Registration Form
If you need to come back and make edits to the registration form, you can do so at any time by clicking on the Active Session name in the student's Registrations tab, then clicking 'Edit'.

Click Save after making your changes. 

Now that your student is registered, you can begin tracking their attendance!

Troubleshooting

  • I am not seeing my session in the dropdown list when I select 'Record a new active session'

In order for the session to appear in the dropdown list, the student must be enrolled in the same program that the session is linked to. Learn more about enrolling your student in programs

Additionally, the session must be currently active (meaning today's date falls within the range of the session's Start and End dates) or upcoming (the session's Start Date is in the future). 

  • Why am I getting a contact already registered error? 

You can only enroll your student in an active session if the dates are not overlapping with an active session that the student is already in. 

This error message means you are either trying to register the student for an active session that they are already in, or you are trying to register them for an active session where the dates overlap with an active session that they are already registered in. 

If you don't see any active sessions in your student's Registrations list, it could be that they are registered in an active session in another program that you do not have permission to view.

  • Why can't I update my student's Start and End dates for their registration?

If you have started tracking attendance for this student, and you are trying to edit the Start or End dates to dates that do not include days that you have tracked attendance for, you will receive an error message.
