Permission Set Glossary - Contact Type

Areas users can be granted or limited access to in the Contact Type permission set options

β­• This article is for users with the Account Owner role.

1. Archive contact sub type --- Allow user to archive a contact type

When checked, user can:

  • See and click the 'Archive this contact type' link in a contact's Details tab

πŸ“Œ Note: Unchecking the Contact > 'Archive contact type' option keeps the link, but blocks users from archiving. The permission option under Contact Type removes the link from the view entirely.Β 

When checked, user cannot:

  • Irreversibly delete a contact sub type or its data

2. Create contact sub type --- Allow user to create a contact type

When checked, user can:

  • Add new contact sub types from a contact's Details tab

When checked, user cannot:

  • Create new contact forms or modify the fields in a contact sub type form (unless permission is given in the 'Forms' section)

3. Update contact sub type --- Allow user to update contact type data

When checked, user can:

  • See and click the 'edit' button in a contact's Details tab

πŸ“Œ Note: Unchecking the Contact > 'Update contact' option keeps the edit button, but blocks users from saving changes. The permission option under Contact Type removes the button from the view entirely.Β 

4. View contact sub type --- Allow user to view contact types

When checked, user can:

  • See and click the "Details" tab on a contact's profile
